Affordable UF is a wide-ranging effort that brings together partners across the University of Florida to tackle the affordability challenge from multiple perspectives including:
Using open educational resources and the UF Libraries course reserves
Self-publishing textbook content through Pressbooks
Sharing courses through Florida CourseShare
Qualifying for an "affordable course" badge
The committee requested a logo, marketing materials, and a website that encompassed the goal: to create, share, and reuse open educational materials to lower the overall cost of courses.
My roles: Creative direction; logo design; brand design; marketing material and "swag" design; web design; collaborating with print vendors
Inspiration & ideation: A textbook surrounded by a set of curved arrows depicts the reuse of educational materials, and I ensured that the design would still work if used in a single color.
Results: The initiative gained traction within university faculty, and the committee recruited more partners and more participants.
