The postcard-sized handout provides a quick overview of the services and resources offered by the center and also correlates with the center's main initiative, "Passport to Great Teaching", which is a travel-themed teaching workshop certificate program. The handouts were displayed around campus so that faculty could become aware of the teaching help available to them.
My roles: Creative direction; graphic design; typography; marketing strategy
Inspiration & ideation: The center's tagline: Ignite, Inspire, Innovate was inspiration for the angled typography and geometric lines. This angled perspective is a depiction of the center's goal to promote thinking outside the box.
Results: The center saw in increase in contacts after the postcard was distributed throughout campus.
The Center for Teaching Excellence at UF promotes student success through transformative learning environments. Their services include teaching consultations, workshops, conferences, course affordability help, online course quality training, and more. The center needed a website revamp because visitors were confused by the UI and could not find resources and information.
My roles: Research, web design; UX/UI; photography
Inspiration & ideation: I took updated photos, added a concise mission statement to the homepage, and implemented UX/UI principles to improve navigation and user retention rates. Search bars were added along with a clear way to contact the center through the main menu which was not present before.
Results: The center saw an increase in teaching consultations, workshop and conference participation, and website traffic. The resource library web pages reached the first page of search engines when using the designated keywords.

The First Year Faculty Teaching Academy (FYFTA) workshop series is held several times throughout the academic year. New faculty are provided prep-work, readings, and resources in Canvas as well as activities within each workshop. To create more cohesion, I designed a workbook to compile the prep-work, activities, and resources that faculty can use as a guide beyond completion of the series.
My roles: Creative direction; layout design; typography
Inspiration & ideation: One of the limitations for this design was that it needed to be in black and white only. Strong typography and clean lines with ample white space created a modern feel so that color was not missed.
Results: In a survey, participants said they found the workbook useful and the layout made it easy to find resources and notes. The majority of participants said they kept the workbook for future reference.
Connect & Engage: This infographic was requested by Academic Affairs to inform students on how to get the best learning experience during the shift to online classes in spring 2020.
My roles: Creative direction; illustration; typography
Inspiration & ideation: The 'anatomical' infographic featured a student in the center that was designed to be gender neutral and without an age or race so that all students could identify or relate. The University of Florida colors and logo were used in accordance with branding guidelines.
Accelerated Online Course Checklist: The UF + Quality Matters online course review committee approved an "accelerated" course rubric which accommodated for a quick shift to online learning. To avoid confusing the original rubric with the accelerated one, I was asked to create a visually appealing list of requirements.
My roles: Creative direction; illustration; typography
Inspiration & ideation: I suggested that we transform the list into an interactive checklist that faculty can use within Adobe Acrobat. The checklist also contained clickable links that were accessible through Acrobat.
Results: Faculty reported appreciation for the clarity and ease of use of the digital checklist. There was more active participation when the need to print was eliminated.
Student Response Rates: This infographic highlighted key points from student learning data. The purpose was to help faculty quickly understand how to improve their courses.
My roles: Creative direction; typography
Inspiration & ideation: I Incorporated different graph types and high contrast colors to help maintain interest and attention.
IDEA Presentation: This workshop discussed steps faculty members can take to promote inclusivity, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) in their course syllabus. A slide deck was created along with an infographic that participants received after the workshop.
My roles: Creative direction; graphic design; illustration; typography
Inspiration & ideation: I chose colors that were neutral and calming to offset a what can sometimes be a heightened topic. Each slide was designed to keep attendees' attention since the information being provided was important for their teaching.
UF+ Quality Matters Course Criteria Presentation: The UF + Quality Matters designation is a special designation given to courses which follow specific best practices criteria. The criteria can be confusing for faculty to understand, so I was asked to design a presentation that would not only keep the attention of workshop attendees, but would also make it easier for them to go thorough this process with their courses.
My roles: Information design; graphic design; typography
Inspiration & ideation: Since the initiative was called "pathways to online teaching excellence" I went with a hiking theme and created a "map" where the steps were categorized like hiking trails.
UF + QM Testimonial: The UF + Quality Matters online course review committee wanted to increase faculty participation in the program. I recorded and edited a testimonial video that would show faculty the benefit of taking the time to go through the course review process.
My roles: Directing; recording; editing; animation
Inspiration & ideation: To break up the monotony of a sit-down interview, I transitioned to animated segments throughout the video to recap what the interviewee was saying and to also provide visual interest and retain viewers' attention.
